There’s nothing like a break from Seattle’s weather in January. Luckily, some friends were heading to their place in the Baja in Mexico, and we found room nearby to join them for the weekend. This view from the plane was a promising start, a respite of just partly cloudy weather to combat our winter blues.
We fit in some swimming, beach walking, and lovely meals. The first night, by tradition, was at the usual, nearby cantina. The next day, we headed to the port to try for some fresh fish. Despite a windy day that diminished the catch, we came home with a few end pieces of tuna that grilled up quite nicely. A visit to the weekend market yielded some more options, including a Belgian-Thai place that sounds delicious!
It was great to catch up with Rob & Judy, trading notes on news both sad (family members recently lost on both sides) and happy (thoughts on downsizing and future travel plans). And the sun did its job, restoring a bit of calm in our flurried lives.
