Birthday Break

I took a couple of weeks off from my art life around my birthday, and spent most of it hanging out on Guemes Island, with lots of quiet time, and delightful visits from friends.

I envisioned lots of reading, and both guys made it happen. Dave caught me up on my latest series, Dungeon Crawler Carl, and Bruce helped out with a gift card at my local place. The lovely owner grabs all the ephemera from books that come in — but we collage artists can only look, not take!

In between, on an excursion down to Seattle, we visited our friends Michelle & Chuck, who had ripe figs for the taking. Knowing I’d be seeing Amy, a cooking whiz who loves figs, I happily took some — and Amy came through with a beautiful tart.

Setting back up at the beach house, I did get time to play at some art: with a Spirograph kit, and an attempt at sun prints with turmeric.

It’s been delightful to have this quiet place of respite back, and to share it with friends, when we’re there, or not.

I’m looking forward to our next visit already!
